MoneyWalk 47 Make A Budget & Work It
This program will help
you undo financial bondage.
Making a budget and working it will enable you to obtain debt freedom
and shed financial burdens. It helps you overcome the irresponsible nature that
exists in all of us. Along with prayer, it crushes the heads of demonic spirits
(Mammon, etc.) that would otherwise lead you to be a bad steward through
selfish desires and loving things of the world. Writing your goals clearly, on
paper or computer, and detailing how you will utilize income allows you to
exercise financial prudence. It leads you to give, save, and spend in
accordance with the LORD’s will for Your life. Budgeting will ultimately change
the negative financial patterns that put you in bondage.
The process is not complicated. It will take a couple hours per day for
the first week or so. Afterward, you’ll spend a little time each week checking
in with your budget, recording expenditures, and ensuring that you’re following
through on your commitment to better stewardship. This is the budgeting
pattern.
1)
List
your net monthly income.
2)
Subtract
one-tenth of your income as the amount you will give to your local Church for
sharing the gospel and good works at home and around the world. This is
evidence of your love for the LORD and faith in His ability to take care of all
your need while you walk in accordance with His instruction.
3) Now show a
separate subtraction for the minimum payment due every creditor (mortgage
company, credit cards, car notes, student loan servicers, etc.). List them
by the due date (starting on the first of the month through the 31st
of the month) along with creditor name.
4)
Now
show separate subtractions for groceries & toiletries, personal money, gas
for car, and entertainment. You can either go back and add up what you spent
during the last month for such expenses or you can do a guestimate and tweak it
as you move forward repeating this process from month to month.
5) Discretionary
income is the remaining amount. It will either be surplus money (in the
black) or a deficit (in the red). If you do
not have a surplus you will need to reduce expenses and/or earn extra income (second
jobs, GIG work, entrepreneurial endeavors) that will allow you to have
enough of a surplus to build a first-tier emergency fund of at least $1,000 and
thereafter put extra money on your debt payments to eliminate them within the
next two to three years.
Discipline
yourself to spend within budget amounts and to never take on debt again, so you
will never again drown in a sea of debt.
When
you have a deficit and cannot quickly get extra money to cover everything,
prioritize (1) Shelter (house, apartment, room including necessary utilities
like natural gas and electricity), (2) Food (home prepared from low cost
grocers), and (3) Transportation (bus, commuter van, vehicle including
gas & reasonable repairs). Other bills should only get minimum
payments. If not possible to pay them all, then determine which ones will not
get paid until you have built the first-tier emergency fund and bring more
income home from other work.
Many
food pantries, thrift stores, family, and friends provide no cost, low cost
clothing and food when you don’t have income to obtain them. Also, most people
have enough clothes even when they’re in financial distress because these
former purchases helped distress their finances.
Always have drafted
budgets for at least six-consecutive months (January, February, March and so
on). Bills only due quarterly, semi-annually, or once per year should be
put in the budget for the months in which they are due. The base budget for
each successive month should be the figures in the budget for the month before
it because most monthly minimum payments don’t significantly change when one
refrains from taking on new debts and responsibilities.
While budgets are
designed to hold you accountable to a focused pattern of spending, they are
flexible in that you can change income and expense estimates when necessary. Do
not use this as a reason to constantly break your budget pattern. Otherwise,
you will wreck its ability to work as an accountability partner to enlarge your
future with greater wealth.
All the things you desire that are unnecessary can wait until you have
disciplined yourself to follow your budget and have built cash reserves to pay
for them without using credit. After a year or two of engaging such discipline,
you will enjoy fulfillment that comes from the process because it will help you
control your finances for greater employment of the purpose for which the LORD
created you.
Please pray for this ministry, email me with any
questions, and contact me to speak at your business or ministry conference or
workshop. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 46 Eliminate Debt, Control Expenses, Grow Assets
Debt is a thief that steals your future and makes
you a slave to the lender, when you do not have more than enough cash at all
times to pay off all debts you incurred. High finance fees & interest
charges exacerbate the problem for many people because during many years of
making minimum payments they pay a premium of 15 to 30% of the principle
borrowed and outstanding. Debt is insidious. It and your use of more of it
grows (while you act like you don’t know it’s doing so) and begins to
strangle your life and finances to make you very uncomfortable. Most people continue
to take on debt (even over 30 and 40 year well-paid careers) and in
their senior years do not have enough assets they can turn into stable income
needed to cover the level of expenses they must pay for the lifestyle of
debt-taking and material purchases they drifted to over the years.
Think of all the types that currently strangle
most people and make their financial lives unhealthy and unprofitable: credit
cards, payday loans, student loans, pawn loans, car loans, unreasonable
mortgage loans and business loans, balloon notes, etc. Everyone thinks they’ll
be fine and are being helped by taking out such loans (even those with
multi-million-dollar annual business revenue) until economic downturns
occur (e.g., regional, national, worldwide, downward revenue spirals,
layoffs, unemployment, etc.). When they do not have sufficient surplus cash
and/or liquid assets not needed for ongoing household or business operations
that can cover three to six months or more of expense payments during each
downturn (that inevitably comes their way), then they suffer, get
properties foreclosed on, have equipment repossessed, need bankruptcy to try
and survive, and/or have businesses liquidated.
Wouldn’t it be better throughout the years to
focus on eliminating your debts while refusing to take on other debt, thus
drastically lowering your monthly expenses. This allows you to have great
profit margins from which you can set aside reasonable emergency funds and
liquid assets to cover the inevitability of economic downturns that history
shows we experience every eight years or so. You would have more than enough to
survive and thrive in business and personal life during such times. The
elimination of all debts allows you to positively control your expenses and
reduces your liability and gives you needed profitability to drastically
increase your cash flow and assets. Whether business or personal, if your outgo
exceeds your income and you have not saved enough to cover expenses during
three to six months of much lower income, your upkeep will eventually be your
downfall!
You must keep the amount of expenses below your
income in order to have peace in your life because this helps you take care of
all your needs and responsibilities in life including you, your spouse, and
children. The pattern above will also help you serve employees during such
times by retaining them or at least helping provide basic needs they might
have. You don’t have to log all your expenses over the past few months nor log
every single expense on a ledger for the next few months in order to decide
what route to take to correct your situation or begin the process. The pain of
your present suffering should make you willing to follow biblical money
management principles that help you establish a godly mission for your life,
set proper goals, know your income, identify unnecessary expenses, and
establish a budget for your family and business.
Many people don't like to hear the word
"budget." However, when you don't develop a giving-saving-spending
plan based on the reality of your present income then your reality throughout
life will be that your expenses inevitably outgrow your income and leave you in
financial turmoil with many headaches, torment, and bill collectors hounding
you and credit card companies raising your interest rate to take even more from
you while your suffering financially.
By counting the cost first - identifying your
income and spending priorities on paper or computer via a budget – you turn
your dream of financial freedom into a reality because it helps you spend less
than you receive each pay period. It helps identify your needs versus your
wants, so you can focus on purchasing materials and services that have the
highest priority and use increased discretionary cash flow to get out of debt
in the most expedient manner using the debt snowball or avalanche methods.
Knowing the state of your finances at all times
is essential for financial health, wealth, peace, and joy. It is part of
pressing upward for the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ
Jesus. Good stewardship is the method we use to press for His best, including
being obedient to biblical financial principles. In this way, you will maintain
maximum ability for fruitfulness, profitability, and long-term prosperity He
desires you to get in this earthly portion of your life.
Please
pray for this ministry, email me with any questions, and contact me to speak at
your business or ministry conference or workshop. May the LORD bless you richly
as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 45 Wisdom For Life & Finances
This program will help
you undo financial bondage.
Godly wisdom
should be regarded more than money, power, fame, and/or position because it
produces godly character and takes you to The Wealthy Place that helps fulfill
your purpose in life. It flows from an intimate relationship with the LORD, realizes
the need for continual fellowship with Him and the Church, and helps you appropriately
engage His plan for you in this world so you make an eternally significant difference
for yourself and many other people. On the other hand, human wisdom is flawed
and fights against godly wisdom seeking to distort and diminish it. It produces
earthly and eternal pain and destruction that may not be seen upfront but when
unrepented is always experienced at the end of one’s life.
You were
created to glorify the LORD by loving, worshipping, and honoring Him by
endeavoring to live pleasing to Him and fulfilling the mission(s) He gives you
on earth. A
righteous person plans
all work (income-earning, volunteer, vocational, ministry, etc.) using vision
and goals imparted by the Holy Spirit, and allows Him to direct and change steps and tasks whenever and
however He sees fit. When humble, one understands this is best whether they
serve as a lawyer, doctor, philanthropist, mogul, accountant, pastor, or any
other occupation. When one is in Christ, work is spiritual mission-based ministry.
He/she has the capacity to use influence and earned income from it to glorify
the LORD and lead others into the righteousness, peace, joy, evangelism, and
disciple-making experienced by those who inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
Solomon, the
richest king on the face of the earth, abandoned right relationship with God by
allowing an inappropriate pursuit of wealth, fame, and lustful worldly
activities to take priority over the LORD’s will for his life. He turned from
the godly wisdom he asked for to human wisdom. He was unfulfilled even though
he achieved earthly greatness, thousands of sexual relationships, and vast
material gain. He came back to godly wisdom at the end of his life and let us
know we should throughout our lives endeavor to fully serve the LORD because the
entire duty of man is to love Him and obey His commandments.
Move forward in the way God would have you to and
at all times stand on
the foundation of truth and righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ. Otherwise,
you will have earthly wealth without spiritual & eternal health. Honoring
the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and He instructs those who follow Him to
true greatness. Learn biblical financial principles (tithing & offering,
planning (budgeting), saving for emergencies, eliminating debt, refusing
cosigning, and diversified investing) and commit to using them through the
remainder of your life. You'll see positive and eternally successful changes &
results overtake your life.
Please pray for this ministry, email me with any
questions, and contact me to speak at your business or ministry conference or
workshop. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 44 In Jesus Christ You Are Prosperous
This program will help
you undo financial bondage.
This salvation, which
brings new life, can begin right now whether you’re driving your car or sitting
at home. Jesus wants you to fulfill His purpose for your life (spiritually,
eternally, and naturally). That can happen only when you let Him guide you.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in
the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the
law of the LORD and on His law, he meditates day and night.
He's the one who
created you, filled you with a godly purpose, and called you out of darkness,
led by His marvelous light. Confess and profess to others your acceptance of
His call and let me know about your decision. It’s the best decision you could
ever make and all of God’s children will rejoice with the heavenly angels on
your behalf. Folly is a joy to him who has no sense, but a man of understanding
walks uprightly.
Let us consider how to
stir up one another to love and good works, not forsaking assembling ourselves
together, but encouraging one another all the more as you see Judgment Day
drawing nearer. You’ll become much more useful to the LORD and others as you
encourage and edify them by getting involved through Church attendance and
ministry as well as sharing your testimony of the transformation He is making
in your life.
Encourage yourself to
godly works by using biblical principles to govern your life and financial
affairs. You'll see positive changes overtake your life when you commit to good
stewardship from a biblical perspective because He came that you might have
life and have it more abundantly.
Please pray for this ministry, email me with any
questions, and contact me to speak at your business or ministry conference or
workshop. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!
