MoneyWalk 446: You shall not commit adultery

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

The bible describes adultery as immoral and unconscionable. It is usually defined as a sexual relationship between a married person and another person who is not his/her spouse. We cannot have sexual relations with God. Yet, God described as adulterous toward Him some of the actions of His creation. So why would He use such a term to describe how some of us have acted.

At least part of the answer comes from the fact that He designed us to have intimacy with Him through praise, worship, prayer, bible reading, study, and fellowship with other humans that desire to have the same type of devotion to Him. We should not have intimacy with and devotion to any other spiritual being (Satan, angels (fallen or holy), celestial bodies, nor any other human) by worshipping it instead of God.

Scripture shows that it is acceptable to be intimate with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and that this is necessary because with Father God they are one. So, when you worship using either name your worship is simply to God and He knows how to deliver your mail so that it gets to whichever person in the Godhead needs to respond. The triune God reality is a mystery that we cannot fully understand on this side of heaven, yet it’s important to know that God’s word is true and that it tells you about the negative eternal and earthly consequences of committing adultery by giving your worship to any source other than God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

When you are in Christ, it shows in your life by the way in which you employ biblical principles to give glory to Him, become fruitful, and example His ways to other people around you. It doesn’t matter that other sources teach principles and methods for doing this or that. You are wholly committed to God’s ways knowing they are the absolute best that bring the absolute best results for you and all others.

Failure to follow His principles and use methods that comply with them is not something that your heart can tolerate. So, in the financial arena you employ His principles of:

1. Working diligently to serve, gain experience, and develop skill that produce income to care for yourself and your family and help provide for others in need.
2. Tithing and offering to honor God for His provision and help fund the gospel.
3. Budgeting to live within your means.
4. Eliminating debt and moving forward to live debt-free.
5. Eliminating cosigning and surety for other people’s debts.
6. Saving a reasonable portion of your income.
7. Investing a reasonable portion of your income to produce greater profit.

Following God’s principles in love toward Him and other people and refusing to listen to the voices in the world that would lead you to do otherwise ensure that you avoid adultery in your relationship with God. This assures you of success in God’s eyes and a deep and lasting relationship with Him.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May God bless you richly as you follow His plan!!!

MoneyWalk 445: You shall not murder

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Almighty God, in scripture, commands us not to murder. A definition of murder is to in malice kill a person unlawfully. Even though there are laws punishing murder in every nation on earth, there are still a small percentage of people who murder other people. If only 1% of people on earth murder other people each year that amounts to 60 million people murdering another person each year.

Laws are based on a set of morals shared by human beings or a particular people group in a community (nation or culture) and they are very important in letting people know what the community expects that they will not do and what the consequences are if they commit certain acts. This religious belief contained in laws is very important and necessary because otherwise chaos ensues from each person doing whatever he wants because it is right in his own eyes. Right or wrong would be based in no certain belief or standard and thus selfishness will overtake decision making. You would have a situation where a greater number of people are willing to murder and commit other heinous acts against other people because they believe doing so will greatly benefit them even if other people are disadvantaged. In addition, they will get the wrong idea about the benefit of such acts and will continue to commit them because punishment not exacted for such behavior.

Since laws have not stopped this 1% from murdering others, what is the most important weapon against murderous activities? A change of heart based on a moral code (standards for behavior) that is believed to be right and where un-repented activities not in compliance with that Code will one day be punished. I find the best and only one that matters eternally is the one that springs from a relationship with Jesus Christ. Where His love is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost causing me to learn His ways and not want to do anything that would displease Him, such as committing murder. By His love and the new creation it makes of a person, even those who have formerly committed murder will be forgiven when they give their hearts to Him and will be changed for now and evermore. Subsequent testimony, growth, actions, and good fruit over time tell whether a person has truly given his heart to Christ.

The tie in to finances is that we don’t want to murder any area of our life or character by being a bad steward of the manifold blessings that the Father has given us. God has commanded people everywhere to do certain things and given those who believe in Christ the Holy Spirit to help guide them from the inside out to do what is right in His eyes. We are acting unlawfully and quite possibly in malice when we trample upon God’s commands by failing to learn them and follow them. Such murderous activity will not only hurt, disadvantage, and destroy us at some point if not repented of (turned away from) it also has an influence that can hurt others or lead them to hurt themselves.

Even though some liberty is taken using “murder” in the arena of finances, I hope you get the point. Failing to follow the commands and principles of God in any area including finances will ultimately harm you and others. God desires that you have whatever abundance is necessary for you to do what He purposed for you to do. Commit from this day forward that you will not murder His plan for you and that you will move forward in love in every area, including finances, so that you get out of life for yourself and other people everything He created you for. Adhering to biblical financial principles will make this a reality throughout your life.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May God bless you richly as you follow His plan!!!

MoneyWalk 444: Honor your father and mother

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Being blessed financially is about more than money. It’s being in a position of peace and joy with the resources you have and allowing God to expand those resources as you need them and as He desires to bless you. You can only attain this position through righteousness. When you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior you are elevated from a lowly unrighteous place to the place of righteousness in Christ. You become the righteousness of God in Christ!

This process begins with the confession of your mouth and belief in your heart that Jesus is the Messiah through whom righteousness is imputed to those who believe. This imputation sanctifies you in God’s eyes and eliminates the eternal judgment in which you previously chose and stood. All because the only one who knew no sin, who was crucified, and who rose again from the dead will raise you up from the dead and present you blameless before Father God. Once you believe in and confess Him as Lord, His shed blood covers your sins so that the Father can only see the righteousness of Christ in you.

This position of righteous creates that new man in you that longs to live differently than he has in the past. You are put on a path to progressive maturity where the goal is Christ-likeness in every aspect of your life. Over time, others begin to see positive changes in your life that resulted from your belief in and relationship with Christ.

One notable area of change is usually in how you honor your father and mother. Some don’t believe they’ve had much of an issue with the area of life. However, if you’ve ever sinned, disobeyed your parents, been caught doing something that’s wrong, or simply not living in relationship with Jesus Christ you have dishonored your mother and father.

Most don’t want to look at the situation in this manner however our failure to act in righteousness at any point along our life is dishonoring to our parents and can be the difference between receiving great blessing and reward and/or living in peace and joy with great blessing. Since you can’t on your own ever fully honor your parents like you should, the blood of Jesus covers your sins in this area and all others and the Holy Spirit guides you to a maturity that helps you live better and do things necessary to show on earth greater honor to parents.

The following things can help you more greatly honor your parents:

1. Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
2. Be led by the Holy Spirit to live morally in every area of life.
3. Fellowship with believers who also desire to and act on living morally.
4. When you’re a child or teen, obey your parents and help out around the house doing chores so that you learn the necessary humility and work ethic to care for your responsibilities once you become an adult.
5. When you’re an adult, work diligently to care for yourself and your immediate family, so they don’t have additional burdens to shoulder.
6. Manage your income in a manner that helps you take care of all your responsibilities, give to help others, and save for rainy days.
7. Manage inheritances and other windfalls in a manner that is responsible and helps provide for future needs.
8. Help look after them when they are older to provide them with needed transportation, medical services, food, shelter, etc.
9. Check on them regularly and talk with them to help keep their minds fresh and active.
10. Help provide and find services that can help them when they face serious illness, catastrophes, and emergencies.

God’s promise to you for honoring your parents is that He will bless you immensely and give you abundant life upon this earth. Not to mention, for believers eternal reward will follow.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May God bless you richly as you follow His plan!!!

MoneyWalk 443: Idols bring destruction

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

The word “idol” means an object of worship. Let’s face it, most of us, even the ardently religious, have taken a sneak peak at American Idol to see what type of talent is trying to get on the show and which ones really have been gifted with great sounding wind pipes. You don’t have to feel like you’ve sinned and must repent because you didn’t totally pass by the show unless you looked at the show, contestants, or judges in a manner that make them your object(s) of worship. If you have placed them above the priority of worshipping the Lord Jesus to the point that you would forsake personal devotion times with the Lord in order to catch the show, then you certainly need to re-prioritize your affections and your schedule.

In this regard, any activity or ideology could become the kind of idol that the scripture is directing you to avoid and/or eliminate from your life. I don’t believe God is concerned with whether or not you watch a program that uses the word “idol.” I think He is concerned with whether or not you’re making anything other than Him your object of worship. Things like money, careers, positions, power, relationships, deeds, animals, statues, and ideologies most often become idols in our lives and we sometimes don’t recognize right away that we have elevated them to that place. However, at some point we must recognize that our adoration of them and our attention to them has been elevated above time spent with the Lord and has pushed aside our immediate obedience to all that He commanded.

When this happens you suffer in some area of your life even if you don’t immediately recognize it. Many people dismiss the consequences of idol worship because they don’t show up immediately. Yet, the bible is emphatic about the fact that worshipping idols brings destruction upon you. While that destruction may not be seen or felt immediately and it’s possible it may not be felt while you live upon the earth, the bible assures you that God will bring everlasting judgment and punishment against un-repented idolatry.

Eternity is not the place that you want to be judged for failure to make the Lord, His ways, and His work your utmost priority because then punishment is forever. I would much rather be shown the error of my ways while on earth, so that I can turn from them and be all that I was created to be in Christ Jesus making sure that my focus always stays upon Him. I feel the same way when it comes to money and the financial area of my life. Each of us are going to have some of it and some people more than others. While we can all prosper greatly to fulfill God’s plan for our lives in conjunction with the building of His kingdom in the hearts of men, you should never put so much of a focus on money or getting more of it that you make it an idol. It is useful for providing for needs and taking care of many areas in your life, however your primary aim should always be to develop a deeper relationship with the Lord. From this desire and action will come adherence to biblical principles that free you from spiritual and financial bondage and bring abundant blessing and reward into your life.
