People
who come to Jesus Christ usually start off in a babylike fashion, with regard
to the knowledge of His will. Through daily praise, worship, prayer, reading
& studying scripture, and weekly fellowship with Christians they gain
knowledge and understanding of His will in the same manner a baby is socialized
/ cultured by continual contact with parents. The baby Christian’s pathway
allows godly principles to be instilled via ever deeper intimacy with Christ.
Mature Christian’s help them by exampling how to live like Christ in the earth.
Over the years, greater maturity is achieved, and the babes grow up in Him,
showing better employment of biblical principles as they walk out this life.
Unfortunately,
some people think they can please God and receive His full blessing and reward
by adhering to one of His principles (tithing for instance) even though
they reject one or more of His other principles (employing debt-free living,
failing to save, invest, etc.). Such a lifestyle is not full obedience to
His biblically stated desire for each person. This is as inappropriate as
worshipping and studying the bible but deciding it’s acceptable to engage
pornography or criminal behavior. This lifestyle displeases Him and results in
grave consequences if not repented of and turned from.
As
with anyone on the path to maturity, you’ll misjudge some things along the way
and make mistakes, yet your heart being one with God’s heart will cause His
mercy to overshadow you and His grace to carry you on to fulfillment of His
purpose for your life. Loving God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength
and loving your neighbor as yourself is the key to following all godly
principles because you desire to employ them knowing He always, in every
situation, has your best interest at heart.
To
make disciples of us, help bring the blessing & reward the Lord desires for
us in the earth, and help us layup treasures in Heaven, it’s necessary for
every pastor to show us how to become intimate with Him. The pastor should also
succinctly teach every biblical principle including each financial one to the
congregation to which he is appointed. These practices are the gateway through
which believers initiate the plan of God for their lives by putting line upon
line, precept upon precept, and principle upon principle to eliminate worldly
lifestyles and activities. Thus, we can more easily fulfill our calling to
properly serve the Lord and other people and care for ourselves and family.
