MoneyWalk 246 Know Your Situation

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

The reality for most people who don't craft a budget to guide them is their expenses inevitably outgrow their income and leave them in financial turmoil. In order to have financial peace in your life, you must keep the amount of expenses below the amount of income, so you can have cash flow to give abundantly and invest in vehicles that will grow your income and assets.

It's important to craft a plan right now for how you will manage income and spending, because the longer you wait the worse your situation is likely to get. It’s not necessary to log every single expense on a ledger for the next few months before you decide what route you must take to correct your situation. You already know your situation is bad and should be better. Simply sit down and figure every expense you’re supposed to pay each creditor each month by looking at your bill invoices from creditors and checking and savings account ledgers. Also, include the tithe and a free-will offering.

Once you’ve calculated the total you’re required to pay all creditors and to tithe and give to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, subtract that amount from your net monthly income (determined by your pay stub and other income records). This will help you know your situation so you can follow a plan to properly move forward stewarding the money He entrusts to you.

If you have money left over, this is the amount you must use to build an emergency fund if you do not have an adequate one, pay down and eliminate debt, and invest in vehicles like no-load low-expense stock index mutual funds so you can progressively build wealth instead of losing it to creditors and unreasonable spending.

If you have little or no money left over, then you need to devise a plan to: (a) honor the Lord with the first fruits of your income, (b) increase your income via a second job or gig work, (c) negotiate debt and interest rate reductions, (d) and manage money in a biblically appropriate way that gets your financial house in order so you can build wealth to fulfill the call of God on your life via serving Him and other people according to the abilities, gifts, skills, income, and assets He provides that you partner with Him on to pray into being, pursue, earn, enhance, and increase.

The book at the link below provides principles and practical steps that help you use the Power to Get Wealth. By 1992, we had $135,000 of debt and a negative $35,000 net worth. Financial bondage and turmoil led me to seek principles and a process for employing good stewardship. As a result, we became constructively debt-free in 1998, mortgage free January 2004, millionaires in 2012, multi-millionaires shortly thereafter, and retired in 2018 in my mid-fifties from public servant jobs while giving abundantly to fund the gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ. The same power is available to you!
