MoneyWalk 273 The Best Investment Practice

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Learn to give first, save next, then spend wisely while making sure your monthly expenses are less than your monthly income, so you’ll have discretionary cash flow left over each month to systematically save, eliminate debt, and invest to build wealth for the future. Set aside time each week to read money management and investing books and articles. Talk with financial counselors to find a few that have an ability to teach biblical financial principles and help people achieve financial freedom. Stay away from those who make pressure pitches to get ahold of money.

Make sure your heart and mind are set on saying “NO” to any investment or financial product pitch anyone tells you cannot wait for you to research the offering to ensure its legal and right for you. Otherwise, you’ll put yourself in a poor financial position by putting money toward things that aren’t good for you. You always need to pray and run opportunities by the Holy Spirit, then by your cohort of good financial stewards to ensure they’re truly good for your situation. Let Him and them help you separate information with real and godly value from information that is fake and harmful to your future and others.

Scripture guides us to keep a portion of our savings and investments in at least seven financial institutions in different types of investments. Today, that could be stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate, guaranteed investment contracts, and other good vehicles. We should also invest with people and companies with good management practices, growth histories, and future prospects by researching their backgrounds to ensure they’re not false prophets touting high, safe returns but delivering low returns via unsafe and unsound investments. Otherwise, you risk losing major sums of money by investing in losers who look good on the outside but have poor growth and safety prospects. Unfortunately, there are some scammers who lie and manipulate to get ahold of money from those who are impulsive and without understanding.

You shouldn’t fear investing because the scripture instructs good stewards to do it and there are plenty of sound investments and advisers in the marketplace. Just realize, you should constantly research to have greater understanding and diversify your investment holdings to provide safety needed to guard you from total or significant loss. Never invest in anything you don’t understand. Never put all your money into one investment vehicle, one financial institution, or the hands of one counselor. You’ll get the best of the market and build wealth overtime and not be foiled by get-rich-quick schemes when you diversify assets among various sound investment vehicles based on their long, medium, and short-term histories, your risk tolerance, and the future date you intend to start using portions of the money for giving and living.

The book at the link below provides principles and practical steps that help you use the Power to Get Wealth. By 1992, we had $135,000 of debt and a negative $35,000 net worth. Financial bondage and turmoil led me to seek principles and a process for employing good stewardship. As a result, we became constructively debt-free in 1998, mortgage free January 2004, millionaires in 2012, multi-millionaires shortly thereafter, and retired in 2018 in my mid-fifties from public servant jobs while giving abundantly to fund the gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ. The same power is available to you!
