MoneyWalk 321 Debt Will Drag You Down

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Many people look for blessings from the Lord yet follow satan’s financial plan. Some are unaware they’ve fallen into his plan because they don’t study scripture on a regular basis and thus don’t learn which principles are pleasing to God and which are not. Others know they’re violating bible principles but overlook godly conviction and fall to temptation because satan’s path allows them to obtain material things they want quicker and with little upfront sacrifice. They excuse their behavior by saying everyone else uses worldly principles.

Satan always wants you to see and mimic the few examples of people who appear to prosper using his plan, who refuse to use God’s principles and incur massive debt in order to get lots of stuff beyond their means and some who over leverage in their entrepreneurial endeavors and personal lifestyle. He wants your desire for extravagance to ensnare you in his trap, causing you future pain that will likely put your family and business in jeopardy of destruction, loss, repossession, bankruptcy, and foreclosure during poor economic cycles and /or times when your particular business or personal income hits a period of decreased income.

Everyone’s life and business will experience economic downturns. Many billionaires and multi-millionaires throughout history as well as businesses like Enron, WorldCom, Coldwater Creek, Sears, Kmart, GM, and others experienced chilling effects from downturns. This reality shouldn’t lead you to fear doing what it takes to be a good steward, to make your endeavors profitable, and prosper you overall because scripture lets believers know the Lord doesn’t give you a spirit of fear. Rather, upon accepting Jesus Christ as Savior you were given a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind (including self-control). This allows you to be a good steward of work, income, and assets He lavishes on you, and produces great reward that helps spare you from devastating aspects of emergencies, catastrophes, and economic downturns. Often, those that suffer the worst long-term effects from these situations have continued to do what men often do (take on massive debt to try and get where they want to go). Whereas, they would have insulated themselves from devastating effects of these happenstances if they had employed good stewardship principles instructed by the Lord.

You put yourself in harms’ way when you ignore biblical financial instructions about budgeting, living within your means, debt avoidance, refusing to cosign, saving for emergencies, gainful investing, and wealth building. Contrary to popular opinion, it’s possible to live by biblical principles and prosper, and it’s the best way to do so! Otherwise, you’ll take on more debt than you can handle and may ultimately compromise your relationship with God, your family, and the Church by spending inordinate amounts of time doing things to keep up with the Joneses and pay creditors the Lord never intended you to have. A lifestyle of leveraging debt to get meaningless stuff will cause many hardships that will zap your peace, joy, and ability to fund The Great Commission. Remember, you’re neither profitable nor prosperous in God’s eyes when you get rich on earth by forsaking godly purpose, principles, and / or relationships with Him and the Church family.

The book at the link below provides principles and practical steps that help you use the Power to Get Wealth. By 1992, we had $135,000 of debt and a negative $35,000 net worth. Financial bondage and turmoil led me to seek principles and a process for employing good stewardship. As a result, we became constructively debt-free in 1998, mortgage free January 2004, millionaires in 2012, multi-millionaires shortly thereafter, and retired in 2018 in my mid-fifties from public servant jobs while giving abundantly to fund the gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ. The same power is available to you!
