MoneyWalk 381 Debt Hinders You!

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Many Christians are in bondage to creditors due to large debts. Borrowing to try to keep up with the people around them and society in general has wrecked their will power, discipline, and trust in God. The LORD provides many things for us to enjoy, yet He warns us in scripture that enjoyment will not be the result when we take on debt to get things. In fact, bondage, headache, and heartache are often the result of a lifestyle maintained via debt. The risk you take on is far greater than most people realize because creditors will come calling even when situations have occurred in your life that put you in a poor position to pay what you owe. The ever-increasing millions of repossessions, foreclosures, and bankruptcies that occur in our country every year are due to people not being able to pay debts they willingly incurred.

Debt-free living is an essential part of God’s plan for your life because debt hinders your ability to prosper in that:

• You most often borrow to spend money you do not currently have to purchase items that depreciate. Thus, steadily reducing your net-worth.

• Finance charges on the borrowed money is often much higher than interest you will earn on savings.

• There is no guarantee your income won’t be interrupted before the loan is paid off disabling your ability to pay the monthly payment and thrusting you into repossession, foreclosure, and/or bankruptcy.

• You’re cosigning loans for people who have no current assets to cover the full amount of the material thing they desire and for which you have no ownership. In the vast majority of cases, they will stop paying on the loan and the creditors will come after you.

• There is no guarantee borrowed money will result in a far greater stream of income.

Unfortunately, most of us had not been taught these things when growing up and we engaged them only to later realize the problems that result. Thus, a critical part of successful financial planning is creation of and regular adherence to a budget focused on debt elimination because this is necessary to take you to debt-free living and greater net worth. By having this God instructed focus you will find throughout the rest of your life that you are able to pursue your true purpose and calling instead of a lifetime of pressing to get and maintain material things and experiences that will not matter when you stand before God and must answer to Him for how you spent your life.

You will not miss out on anything that was needed or truly important. In addition, trusting the LORD in this way throughout this process and your life by obeying His instruction will allow Him to bless and reward you with desires He knows are most meaningful to you without you putting shackles on your wrists and ankles in order to get them.

Your financial situation will not improve as long as you have debts (liabilities) with higher principle balances and finance charges than you have assets and investment growth. You must do what is necessary to make asset and investment growth of greater importance while ensuring that you never put yourself in a financial position where you may be tempted not to honor God with the first fruits of your increase and let everything else flow from that heart and mindset. Otherwise, you will shut down the supernatural river of peace, joy, and prosperity that God provides to faithful people. Eliminating debt in pursuit of debt-free living is the way you make such necessary financial improvement.

Please pray for this ministry and email me with any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 380 Faithful Financial Management

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Very few people can keep an accurate stewardship plan in their heads making it impossible to use income in the best possible manner. Therefore, you need to keep an updated 3 to 6-month plan / budget on paper or computer. This projection of expected income and expenses for the household over these months lets you know if you currently have enough money to pay all bills, when certain bills cannot be paid at some point in the future, and if there is enough disposable income after bills are paid to save and invest a reasonable portion in order to have compound interest and exponential growth work to bring you far greater increase over the course of your future.

Developing and implementing a stewardship plan makes you a better steward of the LORD’s resources entrusted to you. Its purpose is to properly manage your income by giving, debt elimination, saving, investing, and reasonable spending for your level of income. Immediate benefits are learning to better understand your present financial condition, better planning for periods when expenses exceed income, identification of wasteful spending, identification of the need to reduce expenses or earn additional income, better financial decision making to achieve short and long-term goals, and obtaining the necessary knowledge, understanding, wisdom, discernment, and revelation to better your financial situation.

Long-term benefits are disbursement of money in proper, god-pleasing priority, abundant giving, debt elimination, asset growth through compound saving and investing, an ability to handle emergencies without taking on debt to do so, a life filled with peace, joy, and prosperity, and the ability to give to other people including sharing financial principles that bless their lives and families.

Those who fail to use the planning / budgetary principle spoken of in the Word most often find they are the ones who outgo exceeds their income, making the upkeep their downfall. The instruction of the LORD is that a wise person accumulate treasures while foolish person spends all that he gets. This plunges the foolish and family dependent upon him / her headlong into decay, destruction, and a financial death spiral from which they are not relieved until they begin to faithfully adhere to godly financial management.

Please pray for this ministry and email me with any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 379 A Very Good Goal

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

A goal you should pursue is living off less than 70% of your after-tax income, so you can reap supernatural blessings that come from properly managing your income such as tithing to the Church, giving abundant offerings, eliminating all debt, and saving at least 10% to handle emergencies and ultimately make long-term investments. This goal will discipline you, crucify your fleshly desires, and require you to trust God for provision.

Anyone can pursue and live out this goal no matter what type of full-time job they currently hold, level of hourly pay they receive, or debt level they have. Just have faith in God’s love, desire for you to prosper, and in the principles in His word. Of course, this will not happen overnight. It takes a long-term plan with short-term goals that focus your actions to reduce expenses, increase income while appropriately giving, saving, investing, and spending in a way that pleases the LORD.

It is truly amazing how one person living on $12,000 per year can live very comfortably, without debt and financial stress while another person making $100,000 per year claims he / she makes too little to live on. Each person’s vision, planning, goals, and actions or lack thereof will determine whether he / she will have financial freedom or financial bondage. When you exercise faith and obedience in following the LORD and biblical principles, you will achieve godly goals regardless of current income because God will supernaturally help, bless, and reward you along the way. When you don’t use your spiritual weapons, you will ultimately be stressed by the demands of life regardless of your income level.

Please pray for this ministry and email me with any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 378: Illegitimate Divorce Equals Less

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Scripture clearly gives only a couple of acceptable reasons for divorce, yet many people divorce for illegitimate reasons. Husbands and wives that do not keep their marriage covenant suffer consequences including financial ones that they often make even worse by hating & unduly seeking to individually enrich themselves using divorce proceedings.

Two people, focused on God’s will for their union and family, are better than one spiritually, physically, emotionally, and financially. A husband and wife team should seek God to share the same vision, thus enabling them to better coordinate lifestyles, schedules, activities, and expenses. This will always cost less than it does for divorced spouses who live apart. Largely because they do not have to spend twice as much for two separate living arrangements and household infrastructures. In addition, child support and alimony do not strain the family’s budget when spouses are united in Christ.

The angry atmosphere present during divorce is usually so contentious that the spouses spend all they can to try and take as many marital assets as they can away from one another, try to keep kids from visitation with their spouse, and spit venom on them through their comments. Many spend tens of thousands of dollars in attorney fees and court costs fighting to get the upper hand. This drags proceedings over a longer time-period and costs even more because the spouses are unable to get along much less compromise on a fair distribution of assets, etc.

Though the LORD can make up all that has been taken from a spouse illegitimately divorced, He knew from the beginning that divorce would be costly in so many respects including financial and seeks to save us from these circumstances if only both individuals will turn to Him, in intimacy, for direction so the mind of Christ will help them focus on His will, become the union He always wants them to be, and overcome every obstacle that is trying to keep them from that destiny. In that arena husband and wife become one and truly prosper. If you have already made the mistake of illegitimate divorce, seek to do things the LORD’s way going forward and resolve in your heart to not keep making the same mistake over and over.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 377: Don’t Be A Fool

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

A wise man sees danger ahead and avoids it whereas a fool sees danger and walks into it. There’s a stark eternal contrast between unbelievers / disobedient people versus people who honor the LORD through intimacy with Him and giving of their income and assets to help draw people to Him and disciple them within the Church (His body).

At some point, people get to see the path we have chosen during our short existence on earth because the result for those who honor Him shows up in ministry usefulness with a grateful, joyous disposition whereas for the unbelievers and disobedient the result shows continual destructive forces ravaging their lives and oftentimes finances. People will reap earthly problems, destructive forces in their lives, and eternal damnation when they live outside of relationship with God in Christ and do not with their whole heart repent of their sin before they die and seek to obey His will for their lives. They do not like to hear it because it’s not politically correct in this day and time, but it is the truth according to the bible and needs to be heard whether people receive, believe, or follow it.

Long before they take note of the spiritual death they are suffering, decay is overtaking their lives and trying to close the door to the gaping hole that can only be filled by the presence of the Holy Spirit. Yet, this destructive situation is so subtle and insidious that it is practically unnoticeable to the person who made up his / her mind that He does not want to hear or respond to the LORD’s loving call. In the day you hear His voice harden not your heart, for all who call upon the name of the LORD Jesus shall be saved. To sidestep the destructive forces that sin will bring into your life, you must obey His scriptural standard for salvation, which is by grace through faith, and not of works. To have rewards poured upon you via windows of Heaven, you must also be obedient in developing intimacy with him through thanksgiving, praise, worship, prayer, bible study, Church fellowship, God-pleasing service to others, displaying the fruit of the Spirit, and obeying bible instructions for each area of life including finances through gainful employment, tithing, offering, planning (budgeting), debt-elimination, no cosigning, saving, investing, and diversifying assets.

The devil is so crafty, knowing death by sin won’t display itself for a long time, that he’ll present a picture showing harmful financial, relationship, and lifestyle activities as being good for you. You must remember he will ultimately be cast into the pit of Hell with those whom he convinces to follow his ungodly designs. We need to warn as many as we possibly can (family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and acquaintances) of satan’s plan and implore them not to follow it and heartily encourage them to accept Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior and seek to do His will from this point forward.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 376: Let Truth Be Your Advisor

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Some pundits say you must own a business, invest in risky ventures, or earn a high income in order to eliminate poverty in your life to usher in wealth. However, the bible does not identify these pursuits and situations as the only way to abundance, though in a debt-free manner they could be paths God will use to enrich you. Scripture points to simple biblical principles that bring abundance into your life no matter your income.

First, seek to be intimate with Him via thanksgiving, praise, worship, prayer, bible study, fellowship with believers, and service to others. Second, tithe to your local Church and give to other worthwhile ministries that introduce many people to Christ and disciple them. Third, engage legitimate work to earn abundant income and put yourself in a position for raises and promotions throughout the years. Fourth, seek to live on far less than your take home pay and take action to eliminate debt and unreasonable expenses. Finally, save a reasonable percentage of your income for emergency situations and purchasing diversified equity investments for the long-term (stocks, real estate, and entrepreneurial endeavors) that will provide far more growth than fixed income and similar accounts (savings, CD’s, money market, stable value funds, etc.). I like the idea of investing 10% or more of your income as it equates to a tithe and offering and seems a reasonable amount in which to value your present and future in the wealth building arena.

The truth that should be your advisor is, when God’s will takes priority over your desires, then faith and obedience will help you build wealth to glorify God in the earth, which includes properly caring for yourself, family, the Church, and others.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 375: Debt-Free Living Is Wise

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Eliminating debt enhances your short and long-term financial condition by positioning you to set aside huge portions of your income for wealth building endeavors (saving, investing, and entrepreneurship). This focus stops you from engaging a “spend first” mentality and moves you away from immediately seeking a way to fulfill your desires. It puts you in a place where you get all His desires for you in His timing, per His plan and purposes for your life, calling, career, etc. Aren’t His desires and timing better than anything you could imagine for yourself?

While engaging this process, continually honor the LORD by tithing and offering because these practices contain supernatural power to open the windows of Heaven to bring you great blessing you could not muster on your own and they are essential for providing for yourself, family, the Church, and others in the manner He desires. Abundant giving and debt elimination do not eradicate your ability to be fruitful and prosper like some naysayers suppose. Rather, these spiritual practices please the LORD even though the pathway they are on are different than the pathway many of your peers take. The biblically-based path requires faith, obedience, and fortitude to engage. Regardless of how the math might look on paper, following this path results in a far greater ability to draw money and resources to you to help pay off debt much faster than you otherwise could while producing excitement in your life because you are partnered with the LORD to bring about His will in the earth and fulfill your purpose.

Paying off your remaining mortgage and car note when you have money sitting around earning very little interest is a wise practice that produces great financial blessings for you. When you do not have enough money to immediately pay off your entire mortgage, quickly talk to financial institution officers about refinancing your home and car at the lowest possible interest rate and closing cost. Perform necessary calculations to ensure the monthly savings you obtain via the reduced monthly mortgage and car payment will totally recoup the refinance costs within the number of years you plan to keep the house and car. Go the extra mile and ask the officer to provide you with a no cost or very low cost refinance. Sometimes you ‘have not’ simply because you ‘ask not!’

When you are in a very tight financial position with little emergency funds, and extra income and drastically reduced monthly expenses do not seem to be an option you can quickly engage, it could be best to sell your current home and car to more quickly eliminate debt and stay in a debt-free financial position, especially when you can get another suitable home and transportation at a much lower monthly payment including monthly maintenance costs. This is only a temporary position because your new debt-free position will allow you to aggressively save money to get a much better home and car without mortgage payments that strangle your financial future. This type of focused debt elimination will cause super and natural blessings to overflow throughout your life.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 374: Building On A Firm Foundation

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

The truly wealthy give abundantly to spread the gospel throughout the earth, consistently keep their expenses below their income, and invest excess cash over long periods of time, in things in which they hold equity participation in order to receive greatly increased value, growth, and return (i.e., businesses and real estate via stock or ownership). They understand that wealth will not be built by those that have a “spend, spend, spend” mentality nor by those who regularly borrow money in order to get the many depreciating assets they continually desire (clothes, jewelry, cars, houses, etc.). First and foremost, their true wealth is in Christ and the increasing intimacy they seek with Him. This then leads their focus away from constant spending to get unnecessary items to impress themselves and the world around them. The love of the LORD reigning in their hearts encourages the mindset give first, save next, and spend last.

They would much rather give abundantly to see people introduced to Christ and become believers and disciples than they would to receive the myriad of material things produced to tickle people’s fancy. This mindset and pattern of living then produces an earthly situation for them (via increased income earning opportunities and investment growth even while continuing to abundantly give) whereby they are able to have many fine and increasingly expensive material things throughout their lives, because of the deferred gratification they displayed as a normal part of their behavior after putting on the mind of Christ. They wind up being able to enjoy things they get because they are obtained without debt and thus worldly economic forces, such as depressions and recessions, cannot snatch them out of their hands via repossession and foreclosure. Their obedience to Christ and simple financial plan based on biblical principles allows them to have sizeable savings and investment to get them through the short financially turbulent periods that occur once every decade or so.

They are not hooked on such material things emotionally or sentimentally or any other way and could at any time necessary give away or sell these things if they felt like ownership or maintenance of them could negatively affect their situation regarding cutbacks necessary due to a decrease in income or the ability to continually and abundantly give, save, and invest.

Purchasing a house can be a good thing for many people when done the right way. Great benefits could be peace from noisy or rowdy apartment dwellers, more space, and a mortgage payment (including principle, interest, home insurance, and property taxes) that normally would not rise to the level that rent increases would rise over the next decades of your life. However, irresponsible home purchasers, those who impulsively get houses they truly cannot handle on current income, those misinformed about the costs of maintenance and repair and who do not have a huge savings and investment cushion to handle them, those who impulsively move to higher cost homes when their incomes cannot handle that level of extra expense are generally no more wealthy than the average renter in their same income bracket. Beware, our nation would not be experiencing so much predatory lending and home foreclosures if it is automatically true that purchasing a home and getting a tax deduction for it will make you wealthier than those who do not purchase a home. Do not get a home when you do not have at least 20% of the purchase price saved for down-payment and closing costs, when you do not have a reasonable fund for maintenance and repairs that may occur, when the monthly mortgage payment would be greater than 25% of your take home pay, and when you have not drafted a plan and budget to eliminate the home mortgage within 7 years from the purchase date.

Unfortunately, many people are told that wealth is built by the 15-36% tax deduction they get for every $1 in interest they pay on home mortgages. If this seems right to you, how about for every $1,000 you give me I will give you $150 to $360 back next year? While I would grow more wealthy over time, do you still think that exchange would make you wealthy over time? Other people are told they can leverage debt to the hilt to start a business or buy real estate and become as wealthy as they want to be. Of the hundreds of friends and thousands of people we know we have not met any who became wealthy by getting home mortgage tax deductions and we have not personally known any that became wealthy by leveraging debt for real estate or business. Generally, less than one percent of all people who try these methods become economically wealthy, which leaves ninety-nine percent who do not. Urban mythology is how you should label most stories you hear about people maxing out credit cards and taking on substantial debt to become wealthy via borrowed capital. Stay as far away from such methods as you possibly can. Learn to give abundantly, live debt-free, and makes sure you set aside reasonable savings and money for proven long-term equity investment because this is the pathway that will economically bless you now and much more as you move throughout your future.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 373: Watch Out

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Do not allow yourself to become a victim of predatory financial schemes, con men, and those who perpetrate such wicked acts. Rather, be a conqueror who uses godly wisdom to walk in victory by refusing loans and get-rich quick scenarios and focusing all your brain power and money handling energies on being debt-free in a responsible way as quickly as possible and by refusing to engage schemes where people approach you about investing money to tempt you to pursue a return that is higher than the market usually and consistently provides.

Many people are trapped by the nice, friendly, well-dressed, and/or well-spoken perpetrators. Some are even entrapped by those who make them feel guilty about returns they supposedly didn’t get in the past because of their fear of investing. Many now play a mind game with senior citizens by making them fearful of supposed things to come that they will want money to take care of or they play into a temptation of greed that lurks in the inner-man that somehow believes the perpetrators can deliver the jackpot they always wanted, even during a time in life where that really should not be the most important thing to focus on.

You are primed to be tempted by such schemes and perpetrators when you don’t learn and apply biblical principles in your life, you do not refuse to be pulled in by promises of huge short-term returns on savings and investments, you do not refuse high interest loans, you do not budget and consult your asset picture to know exactly what amount of investment you can afford and the timing at which you could make such an investment, and when you don’t crucify your soulish lusts by refusing to love your home, money, and material things more than the LORD’s call on your life and His plan and purpose(s) for entrusting you with money and wealth.

When you’re ignorant of satan’s tactics you will fall prey to him and the hurt they cause. So, search the bible to identify these tactics and ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand all the ways they will be manifested if you are not wise in avoiding them. Predatory lending is one such tactic. Lenders who design these schemes get you hooked into applying for loans that charge very high interest and closing costs. They ethically defraud others by providing loans an applicant realistically cannot pay on his/her income or with his/her irresponsible money management style. Some are not interested in your ability to make the monthly payments based on your income and debt picture, rather they intend to put you in a position where they can repossess your home, car, or other major item and move the item onto many other people to whom they can do the same thing. Thus, making a profit as long as they can while putting the unwitting borrowers in even poorer financial shape.

There is a reason why the bible, God’s instruction manual that leads to blessing when we obey and to negative consequences when we rebel, tells you that He desires and empowers His people to refuse to be in debt, that the borrower is a slave to the lender, and that you should owe no one anything but love. You do best to seek Him in thanksgiving, praise, worship, prayer, regular bible reading, and consistent regular attendance at Church with other believers so you can be introduced to principles and activities that bless you and help fortify you to avoid those beliefs and actions that bring curses upon your life spiritually, naturally, eternally, and on earth.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!

MoneyWalk 372: Humility Brings Promotion

This program will help you undo financial bondage.

Many people try very hard to obtain promotions to the top of the ladder inside and outside of the organizations they work and socialize in (business, government, Church, etc.). The view leadership / managerial positions as the ultimate prize, the holy grail, the prize that must be obtained if they are to be somebody in their own eyes and those of other people. A small number make it all the way to the top and only a slightly larger number make it to managerial levels. About 90% never make it to owner, leader, manager levels that come with the highest titles, clout, pay, and benefits.

A lot of people wind up being sorely disappointed because they never reach the level they’ve made a priority. Here’s a secret: many at the higher levels also wind up sorely disappointed because they never obtain the joy, peace, and satisfaction they thought these positions would hold. Sure, they may have more material things and greater human comfort, titles, and honor from men around them but the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life from which they pursued these levels bring destructive attitudes, habits, and consequences into their lives. If only because many put pursuit and attainment of these levels at a priority above intimacy with the LORD, fellowship with the Church, and maximum earthly and spiritual help for others via use of the resources allowed them in stairs they’ve landed on along the course of their lives.

There certainly is nothing wrong with gaining higher education, work experience, mentoring, and relationships that can help you progress in life to higher stair steps along the way. But, the attitude with which you do it, the path you take, how you do it, and your feelings of thankfulness and gratitude to Him and others regardless of the level attained will either be odious to the LORD or pleasing to Him. If odious and you remain in that mode and unrepentant then your pursuit and the things attained work destruction instead of the spiritual life with grand benefits He purposed for you. If pleasing to Him, then you produce just what the Master ordained and receive the tremendous benefit He purposed for your life no matter the stair you land on at any point in life.

Thus, you must learn to see that the ability to be more useful to God and helpful to other people is what makes a promotion desirable. Also, you must realize the promotions and levels with powerful natural and supernatural benefit come from the LORD. No matter what work you do or level you attain or do not attain, you are in the heavenly Hall of Fame (see Hebrews 11) when in humility your priority is to have continual intimacy with Him and follow biblical principles (His standards) for spiritual and earthly productivity. Humility leads you to present your life to Him in thanksgiving, praise, worship, prayer, bible study, fellowship within the Church, disciplined and fruitful work, planning via intricate knowledge of your monthly income and expenses, living beneath your income, eliminating debt, regular saving, long-term investing, and asset diversification over time. This is a humble lifestyle that brings true and meaningful promotion.

Please pray for this ministry and email any questions. May the LORD bless you richly as you follow His plan!
